OPS is an all-electronic society and offers the large majority of its services through its website and via electronic communications such as email, text messaging etc. The Society has no meeting rooms or other infrastructure to support, and is consequently able to keep costs extremely low.
No formal register of members is maintained, and no charges are made for most of the Society's services. Where charges are made, such as for wedding photography, these are kept to a level intended only to cover actual costs.
Given this structure, the use of the word "member" seems inappropriate. No one is committed to the Society by payment of an annual subscription, and everyone is free to come and go as they wish. We do however, have an unknown number of regular contributors and users, and a few of these have recorded personal profiles on this website. In general, the Society refers to these individuals as "OPS people".
