All orders are subject to standard terms of service. By placing an order, you are accepting these terms of service.
How to Order
The Open Photographic Society’s (OPS) on-line shop is very simple to use. Order details may be changed up to the “confirm order” stage. Should we be unable for whatever reason to fulfill your order, we will inform you of this as soon as possible – normally within 24 hours of receipt of the order.
The Society reserves the right to refuse orders.
Payment must be made using a credit card or Paypal. None of your account details are passed to the Society. Cards accepted are Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
Payment may be made in UK Pounds Sterling (GBP - £), Australian Dollars (AUD - A$), New Zealand Dollars (NZD - NZ$), Canadian Dollars (CAD - C$) or US Dollars (USD - US$). We do not accept payment in any other currencies. Where electronic tranfer of funds is impracticable, please contact the Society to ask whether the service can be provided free of charge.
Where possible we will dispatch accepted UK orders within seven days, and our products should be delivered within a further two or three days. Delivery to the rest of the world is very difficult to predict since timescales are largely out of our control. Products are normally dispatched within seven days and are usually delivered within 60 days. However, customers in many destinations will receive their deliveries in much shorter periods. If there is any known problem or delay with these expected delivery times, we will do our best to keep you informed by email.
Please supply a daytime delivery address appropriate for a delivery Monday to Friday between 0800 and 1730. Failure to do so will result in an additional £6.00 (or equivalent) being charged to your account. The Society will not accept responsibility for deliveries damaged or returned because no one was available at the quoted delivery address to accept them.
Cancellations, Returns and Refunds
We sell products of the highest quality. However, if you are not satisfied with your purchase we will respond in accordance with our returns policy quoted below.
“Prints may be returned if damaged in transit but cannot be replaced merely because a customer decides against the particular image. Claims for compensation are made from shippers by the Society for items damaged in transit, and the relevant products must therefore be returned to us complete with the original packaging.
Orders for prints can be cancelled up to the point where printing or dispatch processes begin. Once prints have been created or dispatched, cancellation requests cannot be accepted.
Orders for OPS books cannot be cancelled. The books are printed to order and payment is made by the Society when the order is placed with the printing company.
Orders for email image evaluations cannot be cancelled. The opinions expressed by evaluators in their email replies are personal (although based on considerable experience and expertise) and cannot be discussed in any way. The names of evaluators are not disclosed.
Orders relating to images submitted for proposed galleries cannot be refunded once received by the Society. However, customers can decide not to proceed with the publication of their gallery on the website.
Please note that no refunds are given on customized items, or items which have been personalized, unless a relevant error or defect, relating directly to customization or personalization only, is found to be the responsibility of the Society."
If a product is listed at an incorrect price, due to a typographical or other error on the part of the Society, we have the right to refuse or cancel any order placed for the product whether or not the order has been confirmed or the relevant payment made. Under such circumstances, when payment has been made and the order is cancelled by the Society, we will, as soon as is practicable, refund to your account for the incorrectly charged amount.
We are committed to protecting the privacy of our customers. When orders are placed for our products we receive details of the customer’s name, e-mail address and delivery address. This information allows us to process and fulfill orders. We do not hold any customer bank account details.
We are committed to providing excellent customer service. The Society is a non-profit-making organization, and all money raised through shop sales is used to meet the expenses of operating OPS and this website. If any questions, problems or suggestions arise from your experience of using our services, please inform us using one of the contacts below:
