Please note that the information on this website regarding photographers' rights and UK law must not be regarded as authoritative. It is written in general terms with a view to increasing general everyday understanding. However it is neither intended to provide authoritative advice nor to be used as guidance in specific cases. Photography is prohibited in UK law courts. The prohibition applies not only to the court itself but also to the wider precincts. Publishing a photograph taken in a court is regarded as an additional offence. The maximum fine for taking a photograph in court is currently £1,000.
